- The 2008 Annual Scientific Meeting of the Astronomical Society of Australia was held July 6-10 at the University of Western Australia in Perth. View the presentation slides from the talks given by Penny Sackett and Patrick McCarthy about the Giant Magellan Telescope.
- A white-paper from the GMT board to the US National Science Foundation discussing the benefits of public-private partnership in the GMT.
- Science with the Giant Magellan Telescope Canberra, March 2008. An international meeting examining the science opportunities enabled by the GMT was held at Mt. Stromlo. The meeting was attended by scientists from 7 countries.
- Science with Giant Telescopes: Public Participation in GMT and TMT Chicago, June 2008. The GSMT Science Working Group, TMT and GMT sponsored this workshop toward developing the private-public partnership envisioned in the 2000 Decadal Survey.
